Hotel Centric – Norrköping's oldest hotel.

The building that Hotel Centric occupies today was completed in 1932 and is now well into its 8 th decade. Building work started in 1929 commissioned by Anna Östergren, Frida and Otto Moberg.

Someone who remembers the construction of the building is Hugo Anderssonn, 93 years old, who was our care-taker for all of 45 years, from 1935 - 1980.

"There were many trips to the local housing authority", says Hugo Andersson, "as the style that the contractor, Otto Moberg, favoured caused a few worries. The so-called "American Style" means that none of the walls are load bearing."

Hugo Andersso has a good deal to say about the Hotel's first years. The guests at the time were, for the most part, "bagmen" (travelling) and who were fetched by horse and carriage from the railwaty station.

Centric's first owner was the former houswife, Miss Karlsson, who ran the hotel - which had at that time 36 room - for more than 30 years. From its opening in 1932 th Hotel has had five owners. The Hotel is Norrköpings Oldest hotel, but during the last years it had had undergone extensive renovation.
